Updates shouldn't change behavior if the old behavior is still "valid" in the new version. This is a very impolite thing to do, it requires that someone take an action to maintain the status quo.
Not the first time Apple has decided what you want for you... but still worth pointing out that it's impolite to the end user. ---

Don't you have to manually set your gmail account up for imap??? So if you were on POP on your account and on the iPhone, wouldn't the iPhone just quit working until YOU enabled IMAP on your gmail account?!?!?
Isn't this kind of a non-issue??
